Bugatti Veyron 16.4 has crossed the speed of 400 km/h and has set a new record of 406 km/h in the world of sports cars. But, the question is how do they do it? Though, the very confidential production house of bugatti veyron cars hasn't told us much about their mechanisms but the they have surely told about the future technologies which have been used to build this masterpiece. A Bugatti car uses DCT transmission system but it doesn't use a torque converter. Probably, most people are thinking that what are these? DCT means dual clutch transmission system and torque converter is a device which converts torque force while changing gears and thus it controls the shift shock.

Dual Clutch Transmission is a semi automatic power transmission system where a driver can change the gear mesh for achieving necessary speed or the gear mesh will change automatically with changing speeds. In a manual transmission process a driver needs press the single clutch first which disconnect the engine from the gear mesh and then the driver changes the gear mesh by stick shift. A device called synchronizer matches the gear before they get engaged. This stops grinding effect. After the gear change is done the driver releases the clutch pedal and the engine gets reconnected with the gear mesh. In this process, a shift shock is produced because of the power delivery changes.
On the other hand, dct system uses two clutches and no pedal. One clutch controls the even gears and the other clutch controls the odd gears. Ultimately, the power supply never gets cut off and the speed never falls so suddenly.
Well, a veyron is designing such dct systems where it's not using a torque converter. Ultimately, it will get a constant speed without falling off.
